Glen Dale is in Marshall County, West Virginia, along the Ohio River. Glen Dale was incorporated in 1924 and was named after Glendale, the farm of a local family.

Very elegant and luxurious Victorian home. Location is perfect for exploring the Moundsville Prison, the Palace of Gold, and many other attractions.

The area hosts several beautiful public parks. Ogelbay Park in nearby Wheeling features championship golfing, the Good Zoo, Brooks Nature Center, hiking trails, garden center, museums, dining, swimming, and the annual Festival of Lights (November-February). Wheeling Park has swimming, an aviary, indoor/outdoor tennis, roller and ice skating rink, and mini-golf. Grand Vue Park in neighboring Moundsville is a spacious recreation area featuring a pool and ice rink, zip lines, and golf.

MUSEUMS

Not to be missed is the history West Virginia State Penitentiary, which was closed in 1995. Tours and other experiences are offered. Glen Dale was home to the Marx Toy factory. You can visit the Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum in Wheeling to see some of the nostalgic pieces. Neighboring Moundsville was named for the Grave Creek Mound, built by the Adena Indians from 205-150 b.c. You can tour the Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex. Carriage House Museum has beautiful glass and glass blowing shows.  Overlooking the Appalachian hills and valleys, the Prabhupada Palace of Gold is reminiscent of an Indian kingdom.
